The magnolia is native to North and Central America, while a different variety originates from Asia and grows as far north as the Himalayan slopes. The white, deciduous flowers have fewer therapeutic properties than the bark—rich in active substances—the extract of which has been used for thousands of years: in ancient Chinese and Japanese medicine, it was used as an invigorating, anti-inflammatory, antibiotic, and more. Ladies at the court of the Chinese emperor used magnolia bark extract as an anti-wrinkle ointment, and this cosmetic practice also spread to Japan.
Zeolite is composed of tiny porous particles of mineral salts such as potassium, sodium, manganese, and calcium with a molecular structure of channels. When it comes into contact with microtoxins, an ion exchange occurs, attracting and trapping toxins, free radicals, and heavy metals in the zeolite's dense network of channels, releasing the mineral salts. The mechanism is similar to that of a magnet or a sponge, retaining impurities and releasing beneficial substances.
With a soothing and emollient action, it has antioxidant properties and counteracts the action of free radicals, protecting from UV rays. Despite its biological role, squalene has several clinical applications.
